Video Contest
in conjunction with
Homeschool Day at the Capitol
Christian Home Educators of Colorado is looking for aspiring Christian filmmakers to create short film clips promoting the exciting events planned for this year's Homeschool Day at the Capitol.
Entrants must use the theme "The Holy Cause of Liberty" from Patrick Henry's famous "Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death" speech. Video should be submitted to CHEC no later than February 1, 2011 to enter the contest. A $200 cash prize will be awarded to the best home video production. In addition to receiving a $200 cash prize, the winning video will be shown at the Liberty Celebration at Homeschool Day at the Capitol on April 7th, 2011. Brian Ray, Ph.D, President of the National Home Education Research Institute , will be speaking at Grace Baptist Church in Parker, CO, on Friday, April 30th from 7-8:30 pm. His topic will be, “A Strong Vision – Homeschooling Works, and Increases Freedom.”
Contact: CHEC at office@ CHEC.org or 720-842-4852
Grace Baptist Church: 10461 South Parker Road, Parker, CO 80134-9038 (next door to CHEC office) Directions: I-25, exit east onto Lincoln, south on Parker Rd, west on Plaza Rd, and then turn right into the second driveway. (We’re on the back side of the strip mall.) Enter the lower parking lot on the north side of Plaza Dr.
Free admission but suggested contribution is $5 per person or $8 per family to the nonprofit NHERI is encouraged. Books, tapes, and DVD’s available from NHERI.
Dr. Ray’s message will challenge and educate those new to or critical of homeschooling, as well as encourage experienced homeschoolers. Dr. Ray will present the results of the latest research on home education, and challenge you to consider your philosophy of education. He will also consider the parents’ role vs. the government’s role in education, and explain how the modern homeschool movement is bringing significant zeal and change to this nation.
Dr. Ray will help you consider the answers to questions such as the following:
·Are parents qualified to teach their children?
·Are these children receiving an adequate academic education?
·What about socialization? (What is socialization, by the way?)
·How will these children behave when they get into the “real world of adulthood?”
·Do the home educated learn as much as those in conventional schools?
·What do certain worldviews or God have to say about who should be educating – teaching, training, discipling, indoctrinating – children?
·Why is the lure of government handouts so strong?

What is TeenPact? TeenPact is a comprehensive leadership program for both teens and children at the state capitol that brings kids closer to Jesus Christ, makes them better leaders, and positions them to impact public policy in their state. During the week, students meet important officials, interact with other like-minded students, and have more fun at the capitol than they could have imagined.
Students leave inspired and challenged with an intense desire to change America for Christ. TeenPact staff will grade and return pre-class homework the week of classes. Students receive a certificate for 1/3 Carnegie Unit in State Politics and Government. If you know any homeschool, enrichment, church, or other group that would be willing to give our Student Ambassadors 5 minutes to promote TeenPact, we would appreciate any contacts.
