TEENPACT COLORADO, MARCH 8-11, 2010

What is TeenPact? TeenPact is a comprehensive leadership program for both teens and children at the state capitol that brings kids closer to Jesus Christ, makes them better leaders, and positions them to impact public policy in their state. During the week, students meet important officials, interact with other like-minded students, and have more fun at the capitol than they could have imagined.

Students leave inspired and challenged with an intense desire to change America for Christ. TeenPact staff will grade and return pre-class homework the week of classes. Students receive a certificate for 1/3 Carnegie Unit in State Politics and Government. If you know any homeschool, enrichment, church, or other group that would be willing to give our Student Ambassadors 5 minutes to promote TeenPact, we would appreciate any contacts. If you have any additional questions or would like to be a part of the Colorado State Coordinator Team, please email: Michelle Warren at colorado@teenpact.com or Marsha Brower ladyoftheboomerang@comcast.net

Colorado Actors Company

Here are two classes beginning the first week of February at Colorado Actors Company and Theater School. Classes are held at their Theater in Arvada, located behind the Early College High School, just east of Sheridan, at 4905 W. 60th Ave.

School Dayz was originally set to begin on Jan 26th, but is being delayed for 2 weeks to give some more students a chance to sign up! The full description can be found on their website here. Basically, they will be taking scenes from the plays; Anne of Green Gables, Tom Sawyer and Little Women and having the children perform them. The scenes they will choose will depend on the children involved. The cost is $200 (includes script, costumes, props and makeup) per student (there is a 10% discount for additional students and I believe that scholarships are also available). The performances will be Thursday, April 8th at 10:00am, Friday, April 9th at 7pm, and Saturday, April 10th at either 2pm or 7pm. The young woman, Shea Porter, directing this play has been performing with ACTS for years, and I think that you would find this a wonderful experience for your children.

School of Rock is a new offering being taught by a young man, Joe Mondragon, that has been involved with Colorado ACTS for years. He is now a student at University of Colorado Denver in the Music Industry Studies program, as well as experienced with several bands in the Denver Area. He loves music!

The class will focus on teaching kids rock and roll theory, performance, and how to play their instruments.

Students will learn vocals, guitar, bass, keyboards, and drums over an 8 week period.

Final rock concert will be a pre show to 2 local bands. An “original” piece of music and 1-2 Classic Rock “Cover” songs will be performed.

If you are interested in having your children participate, you can go to their website here for a registration form and contact information 303-456-6772, if you would like to talk to someone more about the classes.
